Our Review of the Schwinn 12" Roadster tricycle

With the Schwinn 12" Roadster, Schwinn has added all the cool extras like fenders, streamers, a bell and rear wooden deck. They added on the custom handlebars for a lowrider feel. The 12" front tire is generally a good height and leg length match for kids between the ages of two and four.

The air-filled tires make a much smoother ride and make this trike easy to take off the driveway or onto a light path or through the front yard. An adjustable saddle position makes this trike more comfortable as well, and it also let's your child ride for longer before they outgrow it.

One thing to note is the Schwinn 12" Roadster is made from steel, which makes it slightly heavier than some of the more modern trikes. But steel also gives it a durability that ensures it will last through normal abuse or through several children.

The Schwinn Roadster comes in the classic red but there's also a pink version with the same great chrome fenders, bell and streamers.

New inner tubes

4
Reviewer: Anonymous , Sinking Spring, PA Date: September 21, 2009
We really like this tricycle, which we purchased for Christmas for our then 2.5 year old son. The problem we have run into is the same that others have reported, we have had a flat tire on the back and have had trouble finding a replacement. I called the number in the manual this afternoon and they are sending us 3 new inner tubes, one for each wheel, and are doing it under the warranty. So if you have the manual and have access to the model number and date stamp on the tricycle, you may be able to get new tubes this way too. I think there must be some kind of flaw with the tires, since so many people have reported this problem. Otherwise, we think it's a great trike.

OUTSTANDING

I purchased two of your fabulous tricycles for my two year old twin grandsons. They were a smash hit! Both the boys and the parents were delighted. Everything about them was just perfect. My 3 boys all had Schwinn bikes growing up and I was so proud to present your "still wonderful after all these years" product. Thanks!!!

Two for twins

Reviewer: Jane , Berrien Springs, MI Date: April 24, 2009
After much online trike research, we decided the Roadster had the best quality for the price. Ultimately, our 37" high, twin 2yr-10 mo. old toddlers both just love these bikes and they have plenty of room to grow with these trikes. Also, the trikes arrived in just two days! The only negative is the boxes that these trikes are shipped in are sub-standard. The boxes were practically falling apart when they arrived. There were many scuffs, scratches in the paint. One frame was bent, but my husband was able to straighten the part. We didn't want to mess with returns, so we are just living with the scratches. So, if you order one of these, don't unbox it in front of your toddler, in case you need to return for damaged parts. And, get a helmet, your toddler will want to test his/her skills/speed on this trike!

This bike is the best! My 5 year old son has autism and is afraid of the stand up bikes, even with training wheels. We got this for his birthday and he took off as soon as we went outside. He really scoots and laughs the whole time.He is a tall 5 year old and fits perfect and will for still some time I can not recommend this Enough!! We are buying the pink one for our daughter :O)

Loved the first purchase so much, we bought another for our second 'grand'....we put it together in one minute. Its retro look is clean & captivating; and the 'pump up' tires are high quality. Customer Service was unbelievably quick and easy. Highly recommend.....

A Nice Ride!

So does this come in an adult size? This trike was easy to put together and looks great! Overall quality is good and has details that make it a special gift for any kid. The rubber wheels make it ride smoothly and allow for off-road use too. My son is still getting the hang of pedaling, but I'm sure this tricycle will be used for years to come.

I love the tricycle, but we recently noticed the back tire inner tube needs to be replaced and I can't find one anywhere. Anyone else having this problem?

Perfect trike!!!

I am surprised that Schwinn trikes are not available at conventional stores. This is an excellent product that should definitely be on top of every parent's list. We decided on the Schwinn roadster after exhaustive research considering among other trikes, Kettlers, Italtrikes, Radio Flyer, etc.. but found this to be the best not just in build quality but also great value for the money you pay (Kettler is just too expensive). Our son just turned 2 and we first thought that he might be too small for this trike after reading other reviews. For now he does reach the pedals (he is 27" tall) but has yet to learn how to pedal. He scoots around easily, as the seat is low enough. Assembly was extremely easy - 4 steps, took me all of 10 minutes. It rides so smoothly. We are as excited as our son is with this trike and cannot wait for him to learn to pedal around with it. Excellent trike and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
